Lévy processes and continuous - state branching processes : part I
Let us begin by recalling the definition of two familiar processes, a Brownian motion and a Poisson process. A real-valued process B = {B t : t ≥ 0} defined on a probability space (Ω, F , P) is said to be a Brownian motion if the following hold: (i) The paths of B are P-almost surely continuous. (ii) P(B 0 = 0) = 1. (iii) For 0 ≤ s ≤ t, B t − B s is equal in distribution to B t−s. (iv) For 0 ≤ ...
متن کاملInfinitely ramified Galois representations
In this paper we show how to construct, for most p ≥ 5, two types of surjective representations ρ : GQ = Gal(Q̄/Q) → GL2(Zp) that are ramified at an infinite number of primes. The image of inertia at almost all of these primes will be torsion-free. The first construction is unconditional. The catch is that we cannot say whether ρ |Gp=Gal(Q̄p/Qp) is crystalline or even potentially semistable. The ...
متن کاملBranching-stable point processes
The notion of stability can be generalised to point processes by defining the scaling operation in a randomised way: scaling a configuration by t corresponds to letting such a configuration evolve according to a Markov branching particle system for -log t time. We prove that these are the only stochastic operations satisfying basic associativity and distributivity properties and we thus introdu...
متن کاملHandling Infinitely Branching WSTS
Most decidability results concerning well-structured transition systems apply to the finitely branching variant. Yet some models (inserting automata, ω-Petri nets, ...) are naturally infinitely branching. Here we develop tools to handle infinitely branching WSTS by exploiting the crucial property that in the (ideal) completion of a well-quasi-ordered set, downward-closed sets are finite unions ...
متن کاملSe p 20 05 Random Trees , Lévy Processes and Spatial Branching Processes
Random trees. Random trees. The main goal of this work is to investigate the genealogical structure of continuous-state branching processes in connection with limit theorems for discrete Galton-Watson trees. Applications are also given to the construction and various properties of spatial branching processes including a general class of superprocesses. Our starting point is the recent work of L...
